How embla sparks
One question a day. The same one for everyone.
Before embla shows you anything, you answer the question of the day. A slider between two poles, that takes seconds, and it opens the app. If you want to read the others, you write a sentence of your own: first your sentence, then the table. The next day there is a new question. This is not a side feature, it is the door.

The sofra: the people who wrote something
The sofra is the low round table Albanian families sit around and talk. On embla it is the only place where you meet people: those who wrote a sentence about today's question and fit your search circle. You set the radius, the age range and the language yourself, and that costs nothing. Nothing is swiped here. Every sentence carries three things: a spark without words, an X that sets the person aside for 21 days, and a reply. Each of them takes that person off the table, because eight people sit there, and eight is enough to really read them. If you want to say more than a spark, you send a reply spark: an answer to that exact sentence, landing straight in the other person's chat, no match needed. If they write back, you are connected.

No empty text box
On embla nobody can message you out of nowhere, and you can't do it to anyone either. Every first contact is a reply to something the other person wrote or showed. That is not a house rule, it is enforced on the server. Only the embla team can write to you directly, for instance about a report. And when it fits, it turns into a conversation, and eventually into the first coffee.

What is embla?
embla is a new dating app for the Albanian community – for Albanians in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia and the entire diaspora. Every day works the same way: there is one question for everyone, you answer it first, and only then do you see the others. The sofra holds the people who wrote a sentence about it today, not cards in a stack.
Do I really have to answer the question of the day every day?
Yes, and that is on purpose. Without your answer embla doesn't open: no tabs, no sofra, no chats. Moving the slider takes seconds and opens the app. You see the others' sentences at the sofra once your own is there, and with it you are at the table yourself.
How much does embla cost?
Nothing. Matching, chatting and the “Sparks” tab that shows who sparked you never cost anything. All visibility levels, incognito mode, one travel window and your search circle of radius, age and language are free too. Eight people sit at your sofra, with embla+ or without; free every day are five sparks and one reply spark. embla+ lifts exactly those limits and costs €8.99 a month, less for three or six months and less in Albania and Kosovo. On their own there are spark packs, reply spark packs, the day pass and the wildfire. Three things are never for sale: a visible highlight, so no spotlight for anyone, access to the people who spark you, and more than eight people at the table at once. How is embla different from Dua?
Dua is the best-known Albanian dating app and relies on swiping, boosts and premium subscriptions. embla has no profile feed at all: every day there is one question for everyone, you answer first, and only then do you see the sofra with the sentences other people wrote about it today. How does embla protect against fake profiles?
Two things, and the second one matters more. First: every profile goes through selfie verification before it becomes visible. Three guided selfies are matched automatically against the profile photos; without that check you don't see the sofra, and nobody sees you there either. Second: a match only ever happens through genuine mutuality. Nothing on embla sparks back on its own; a spark back always comes from a person who has seen your profile. So nothing can pretend to you that somebody likes you. And we don't buy profiles and we don't invent numbers.

Why are waitlist spots limited?
Because on day one, a dating app is only as good as the people who are actually there and reply. That's why the waitlist grows in rounds with a fixed contingent. We raised round 1 to 50,000 spots because demand was huge. Once a round is full, the next one is announced later; whoever signs up in the meantime is pre-reserved and automatically first in line. What happens to my data?
Your data stays in Europe, GDPR-compliant, and is never sold. On the waitlist we only store what you enter yourself, and delete it as soon as you email us – no form, no reason needed.
